Pat McAfee

Pat McAfee surprised those in the sports world with a huge announcement on Thursday.

While McAfee signed a four-year, $120 million deal with FanDuel last year, he’s made it increasingly clear that he’s exploring his options when it comes to finding a long-term home for the extremely successful The Pat McAfee Show. Where The Pat McAfee Show could end up is anyone’s guess, as McAfee plays his cards relatively close to his chest.

However, Thursday’s announcement had more to do with McAfee’s immediate future, rather than the future of his show.

McAfee and his wife, Samantha, announced the birth of their daughter on social media:

Today’s a day that @MrsMcAfeeShow and I have been dreaming of,” McAfee wrote in a tweet on Thursday. “I can’t wait to see where this foot gets to go, beautiful girl. WE LOVE YOU. Baby and Momma are both healthy. Momma and I are floating with joy. This is amazing. Thanks for all of the good vibes.”

McAfee called into his show nearly an hour later to share the good news with his colleagues.

“We lost two babies in consecutive years,” McAfee said via the Indy Star. “This is a day that we’ve been waiting for for like 30 months or so.”

The sports world reacted to McAfee’s big announcement on social media:
