Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes had some high praise for Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins this week, calling him the most underrated quarterback in the league.

During a joint interview that included Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins and Marcus Mariota – the subjects of the recent Netflix documentary series Quarterback – the group was asked to name the most underrated quarterback in the NFL. And Mahomes wasted no time in pointing right to Cousins.

“I think this guy right here,” Mahomes said according to Pro Football Talk. “I mean, if you look at Kirk over here, man. Wins every year. Puts up great stats. Did it in Washington. Does it in Minnesota. Talk to any other quarterbacks in the league, and they’re gonna say the same thing.”

Mariota agreed with Mahomes’ assessment of Cousins.

“I’d agree with that,” Mariota said. “I’ve been in a few systems and [with] a few coaches. And a lot of the tape that we’d watch was of Kirk. A guy consistently, year in and year out, continues to prove why he is one of the top quarterbacks in the league.”

Cousins has been in the league for a long time and found consistent success when many quarterbacks have not. It’s certainly not a bad pick from Mahomes.
