Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes amongst others like Travis Kelce and even Mecole Hardman received much of the praise for the team’s victory on Sunday over the San Francisco in Super Bowl LVIII. But on Tuesday, Mahomes gave props to an unsung hero in the game, who was discovered to have played through an injury for the betterment of the team.

A big talking point ahead of the game was how star offensive lineman Joe Thuney would miss the game with an injury. This put an increased role onto the shoulders of backup offensive lineman Nick Allegretti, who started in his place.

What most fans didn’t know was Allegretti played through a very serious injury for most of the game. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Allegretti suffered a torn UCL in his elbow in the second quarter of the game, which was discovered to be a full tear with an MRI on Tuesday.

It sure takes some incredible heart from Allegretti to play through this kind of injury for the entire rest of the game, including an entire overtime period.

This courageous act from Allegretti resulted in Patrick Mahomes taking to social media on Tuesday to praise his teammate for not missing an entire snap of this game.

“Beast man! We told him we needed him out there and he didn’t miss a snap!”

Allegretti has started in 13 games for the Chiefs in his five-year career with the team. But when he was called upon on Sunday, he rose to the occasion under some serious circumstances.

For his troubles, he earned himself his third Super Bowl championship, an accomplishment that very few ever get to achieve in their football career.
