The Las Vegas Raiders made much of signing quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo last season. One year later, it looks like they’re on the outs.
The Raiders are expected to part ways with the veteran quarterback who joined the Raiders following an up-and-down career in San Francisco.
On Tuesday, Dianna Russini of The Athletic emerged with the news of the Raiders’ expected next move. Russini broke the news on X, the popular website formerly known as Twitter.
“The Las Vegas Raiders are expected to cut QB Jimmy Garoppolo tomorrow,” Russini said. She noted that “a few” teams will be interested in the veteran quarterback.

Garoppolo has thrown for 15,494 yards in his ten-year NFL career. He’s thrown 94 career touchdowns to 51 career interceptions, completed 67.4 percent of his passes, and has a career QB rating of 97.6.
He spent three years being Tom Brady’s understudy in New England before the Patriots traded him to the San Francisco 49ers. Garoppolo played on the Niners’ Super Bowl LIV team that fell to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Garoppolo then helped bring the 49ers to the NFC Championship Game in 2021, but the Rams took them down.
Garoppolo played one season with the Raiders and things didn’t go well. He played in just six games before injuries racked up and sent him out. Aidan O’Connell and Brian Hoyer eventually took the reins. The Raiders seemingly have decided that Jimmy G is no longer in their plans.
