The Las Vegas Raiders faced off against the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football which featured the return to the field for Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Unfortunately for Raiders fans, Garoppolo did not return in impressive form, which led many fans to criticize him on social media.

Garoppolo missed the Raiders Week 7 game with an injury. And in his return in Week 8 on Monday night, he struggled in a big way.

The two-time Super Bowl champion completed just 10 of 21 passes on the night for 126 passing yards and had a pretty bad interception that the Lions’ defense read easily in the second quarter.

This was far from his only poor throw on the night. He also missed a wide-open Davante Adams late in the fourth quarter that could have put the Raiders back in the game.

Through one half of football in Detroit, the Raiders wide receiving corps as a whole was held catchless due to Garoppolo’s struggles. That simply can’t happen with a wide receiver as talented as Davante Adams on the roster.

The Raiders fell to the Lions 26-14 in the game. But it honestly could have been a far worse loss considering Garoppolo’s struggles.

Fans are now calling for Garoppolo to be benched after his latest poor performance.

Frustrations are starting to grow from Raiders fans and Raiders players alike after this disappointing offensive performance. Davante Adams spoke to the media after the game, where he refrained from commenting on the game because he was afraid the “media would take it out of context”.

With this loss, the Raiders fall to 3-5 on the season. And considering Garoppolo now leads the league in interceptions on the year with 9, there may need to be a serious discussion in Las Vegas on whether or not he should lose his starting job.
