Many Las Vegas Raiders fans have been calling for head coach Josh McDaniels to be fired for quite some time now. And they finally got their wish on Wednesday morning.

To put it nicely, McDaniels has not had the best tenure with the Raiders since joining the organization in 2022. Through 25 games with the organization, the Raiders have gone just 9-16 with McDaniels as head coach.

General manager Dave Ziegler has also received his fair share of criticism. He joined McDaniels as well in 2022 and has particularly received backlash for signing starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo this past offseason, who has not looked good whatsoever for the organization this year.

Both ended up losing their job on Wednesday, as the Raiders issued a statement that they were being relieved of their duties immediately.

The statement included comments from Davis directly, stating that he wanted to thank them both for their service and wish them the best moving forward.

“After much thought about what the Raiders need to move forward, I have decided to part ways with Josh (McDaniels) and Dave (Ziegler). I want to thank them both for their hard work and wish them and their families nothing but the best,” wrote Davis in the statement.

The NFL world certainly took notice of this massive announcement by the Raiders organization. And it is pretty safe to say that most Raiders fans believe this was the right decision.

The Raiders’ decision to clean house certainly seems like it was well overdue considering their struggles this year. And they will likely use the rest of this season to determine who they want as the long-term replacement for both McDaniels and Ziegler moving forward.

For the time being, it sounds like it will be former NFL linebacker and current Raiders linebackers coach Antonio Pierce who will be the interim head coach for the rest of the season, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
