It has been an awful year for the Los Angeles Rams, currently sitting at just 4-10. Things certainly did not get any better on Friday after a disappointing report emerged about star defensive tackle Aaron Donald.

Donald has been out after suffering a high-ankle sprain back in November. While there was seemingly some hope that he could potentially return this year at some point, it looks like that will not be the case.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Donald has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos, and Rams head coach Sean McVay said that it is “unlikely” that he will play again this season for Los Angeles.

It has not been the season that would have been expected for Donald, who ultimately finished with just five sacks. This undoubtedly has to be seen as a disappointment as the lowest number of sacks in his nine-year NFL career.

Many around the NFL world are certainly upset that we will likely not see Donald again this season.

“2022 Rams: On the shortlist of poorest title defenses in the history of people,” tweeted Dave Damechek of the Extra Points podcast.

“This has been the thought all along. It’s unlikely Aaron Donald plays again this season. Doesn’t make sense with the Rams out of the playoff picture,” tweeted Tyler Dragon of USA Today Sports.

It will certainly be very interesting to see what Donald decides to do this offseason regarding his future in the NFL. He famously almost retired this past offseason after their Super Bowl win last year, so it seems possible that he could finally decide to retire after this disastrous season in Los Angeles.
