Former Georgia Bulldogs star quarterback Stetson Bennett had a troubling first season with the Los Angeles Rams, stepping away from the team for most of the year due to an undisclosed off-field issue, which brings up questions as to his status for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

Last month, McVay stated that he was “unsure” whether Bennett would be back with the team next season, adding that he believes that he is “doing better”. Obviously an encouraging update, but it doesn’t exactly give too many answers about his NFL future.

McVay was asked again about Bennett on Thursday, telling Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times that he and the team will “connect” with Bennett “at the appropriate time”.

“You figure out, ‘All right, where are you at?’ And this is something we feel like is best for him and our football team to bring him back into this ecosystem,” said McVay.

It’s not exactly a solidified answer yet again from McVay on Bennett’s future. But it is at least nice to hear him say that there are at least plans to bring him back into the team’s “ecosystem”.

Bennett of course proved himself to be extremely serviceable in college at Georgia, helping the team win back-to-back National Championships in 2021 and 2022.

It obviously remains to be seen whether he can ever replicate this type of success at the NFL level. But it would at least be nice to see him get a chance at doing so as long as his personal problems are under control.
