Josh Johnson’s long and wild NFL career continues as the Baltimore Ravens are expected to re-sign the veteran quarterback just a few days after releasing him, reports NFL insider Josina Anderson.

Joshnon was released this past Saturday as Baltimore elevated two running backs—Melvin Gordon and Kenyan Drake—to its active roster for Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts. In Sunday’s overtime loss, Tyler “Snoop” Huntley served as Lamar Jackson’s direct backup, but it appears as if the veteran journeyman Johnson will once again join Baltimore’s quarterback room.

Johnson is well-traveled around the NFL. Originally selected in the fifth round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he has suited up one way or another for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals, 49ers, New York Jets, Indianapolis Colts, Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, New York Giants, Houston Texans, Washington Commanders, Detroit Lions, and Denver Broncos.

The signal-caller made waves last season when he was thrust into the NFC Championship Game against the Philadelphia Eagles after Brock Purdy was injured. Johnson unfortunately left the game as well after sustaining a concussion and the 49ers lost the game.

Interestingly enough, Johnson is expected to re-sign with the Ravens, despite the Jets currently needing a veteran quarterback. Johnson played under head coach Robert Saleh for the 2021 NFL season too. But, he seems to have found a home in Baltimore, as he is currently in his third stint with the Ravens, having previously been on their roster in 2016 and 2021.
