Rookie linebacker Nico Marley has already found a great place for himself with the Washington Redskins. And when you’re the grandson of a reggae legend, you might be expected to sing every once in a while.

At a charity fundraiser for the homeless, some Redskins players including Marley were there and Marley participated in a bit of karaoke. With the last name “Marley,” of course Nico is going to pick one of his grandfather’s songs. Nico chose “Waiting in Vain,” which is a pretty good choice.

This is how it’s supposed to sound, sung by Bob Marley.

The Nico Marley version was…not as ideal as the original.

Nico definitely had some fun with it but his singing wasn’t nearly as great as Bob. But everyone has their own thing. Thankfully, Bob Marley knew his gift was in music and became a legendary musician. Nico Marley knew his gift was in football and if he can have a career half as successful as his grandfather’s music career, he’ll go down in history as an NFL legend. And if that happens, it won’t even matter how bad he sings.
