Denver Broncos star quarterback Russell Wilson is among the most high-profile players in the NFL. His wife, pop icon Ciara, is perhaps even more high profile in her industry. This would make you assume that the two would luxuriously celebrate Ciara’s 38th birthday on Wednesday at some high-class restaurant. But that was not the case whatsoever.

Instead, Wilson took Ciara to the popular breakfast chain Waffle House, renting out and decorating the entire restaurant for her birthday dinner.

Ciara posted a video on her Instagram from outside the Waffle House, which was fully decked out with a red carpet for her arrival.

For any typical person, this is a fine dinner. There’s certainly no shame in eating at Waffle House, as millions eat there daily across the United States.

But it’s not exactly what you would expect for a birthday celebration, and fans pointed that out on social media.

Say what you will about the restaurant choice, but it seems like Ciara was actually very happy about Wilson’s surprise for her. She posted her reaction to it on social media, where she seemed thrilled to be eating there.

It’s certainly worth noting that Ciara is pregnant with what will be her fourth child. So it’s very possible that she wanted a much more relaxed dinner instead of going out to a fancy restaurant.

Regardless, it’s certainly hilarious to see a high-profile couple like this eating at one of the most humble chain restaurants in the country.
