It’s been a long few months for Russell Wilson after the Denver Broncos benched him for the final few games of the regular season, leaving his status with the team in a state of limbo. But it sounds like he should soon be getting official word about whether or not he will be back with the team next season.

During his press conference at the NFL Combine on Tuesday, Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton announced that the team is planning to make a decision on Russell Wilson within the next two weeks.

“We go through the combine week here. Next week, I think Tuesday, Wednesday, we’ll be in meetings with ownership. And so I expect that we’re going to know fairly quickly,” Payton said according to Pro Football Talk. “There’s a couple of factors here. Obviously, the cap projections came out. We’re further down the road with the draft class, obviously the pro free agents. So, I would anticipate it within the next two weeks.”

Obviously, this is a significant announcement as it gives a pretty clear timeline on when the decision is coming, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media.

We’ll have to see what the Broncos ultimately decide.
