It’s no secret that Denver Broncos star quarterback Russell Wilson had the single worst season of his entire career last season with the Broncos in nearly every statistical category. But this season, under new head coach Sean Payton, he has already improved radically – and it’s quite evident when you look at the stat sheet.
As NFL reporter and analyst James Palmer of The NFL Network pointed out on social media, Russell Wilson has seen his stats increase across the board to the point that he now ranks among the top quarterbacks in the entire league in several statistical categories.
“Russell Wilson 2023 season:
Completion % – 10th (67.9)
TD – INT Ratio – 2nd (18-4)
Passer Rating – 4th (104.0)
GW Drives – T-2nd (3)
4th QB Comebacks – T-Most (3),” Palmer said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

It’s a pretty insane improvement from Wilson given just how much he struggled last season, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media.
some people still think Nathaniel Hackett is a good coach! https://t.co/oXUeMYJ9K6

Wilson’s improved play has had a radical impact on the Broncos’ offense, as well. Last season the team ranked dead last in scoring offense, averaging just 16.9 points per game. So far this year, that number is up to 21.8 points per game.
