Ryan Day Credit: Adam Cairns-The Columbus Dispatch

Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day has not been linked to many NFL jobs recently, but his name has recently popped up in odds from one sportsbook related to the Los Angeles Chargers head coaching vacancy.

According to the latest odds from the sportsbook betonline.ag, Ryan Day has 16/1 odds to become the next head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers.

Here is the full list of potential candidates and their odds, via McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning.

  • Jim Harbaugh 2/1
  • Bill Belichick 3/1
  • Ben Johnson 4/1
  • Kellen Moore 5/1
  • Frank Smith 7/1
  • Bobby Slowik 12/1
  • Eric Bieniemy 12/1
  • Lincoln Riley 16/1
  • Ryan Day 16/1
  • Dan Quinn 18/1
  • Brian Flores 20/1
  • Jerod Mayo 20/1
  • Brian Johnson 25/1
  • Raheem Morris 33/1
  • Deion Sanders 50/1
  • Philip Rivers 100/1

At 16/1 odds, Day isn’t exactly considered a frontrunner to land the job, but it’s certainly interesting that he’s on the list in any capacity. His presence on the list was enough to create quite a buzz on social media.

Day has spent the past five seasons as the head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes where he has led the team to the College Football Playoff three times. During his time at Ohio State, he has developed three eventual first-round picks at quarterback: Dwayne Haskins, Justin Fields, and C.J. Stroud.

We’ll have to see if the Chargers decide to give him a chance to lead an NFL team.
