Ryan Tannehill has been down this road before.
Just last year, the Titans took a look at the future of their quarterback position when they selected Liberty’s Malik Willis in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Tennessee swung for the fences again with its second-round pick this year. The Titans selected Kentucky’s Will Levis with the 33rd overall pick in the second round of the NFL Draft.
While Tannehill will be the team’s starter moving forward, it’s unclear whether he has a future with the team beyond the 2023 season. Tannehill is set to be an unrestricted free agent and he’s now in a quarterback room with two premium draft selections. And while the Titans invested in the offensive line (Peter Skoronski) with their first-round pick, Tennessee didn’t select a wide receiver until the seventh round of last week’s draft.
“You can only control what you can control, right?” Tannehill said, via ESPN’s Turron Davenport. “(Head coach) Mike (Vrabel) and (general manager) Ran (Carthon) make those decisions. And, as players, you got to control what you can control, and that’s doing the best you can, each and every day, to go out and win football games.”
Tannehill was then asked to weigh in on the addition of Will Levis.
“Hopefully, he adds to the room,” Tannehill said. “Obviously, a talented guy. Coming off a great college career. We’ll see when I get to meet him here in a few weeks.”
