New Orleans Saints defensive end Cam Jordan wants to send new quarterback Derek Carr back to Las Vegas.

Don’t worry, there’s not some sudden conflict between Jordan and Carr, who spent his first nine NFL seasons with the Raiders, including the last three in Las Vegas.

No, Jordan wants to help help take Carr back to Las Vegas for Super Bowl LVIII, to cap the 2023 season. And the eight-time Pro Bowl star on Wednesday made a vow to do just that.

“I expect the Super Bowl,” Jordan told SiriusXM NFL Radio. “I expect to take Derek Carr, DC4, back to Vegas where he just left and have a return run at the Super Bowl.”

It’s the kind of boast many NFL players make before the season, when even the worse teams from the previous year have new hope. It might not be such a crazy thought for the Saints. Thanks in no small part to Jordan, the team allowed the fifth-fewest total yards last season.

On the other side of the ball, however, quarterbacks Andy Dalton and Jameis Winston split time, and the offense struggled. The Saints were 22nd in points scored. Carr, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, is a clear upgrade in that department.

Will Carr’s arrival be enough to take the Saints to the postseason? In the muddled and mediocre NFC South, anything is possible. With Jordan’s promise to Carr, it’s clear he’s setting the bar very high for the team.

“Nobody has ever walked into a season saying, ‘I hope we win 10 games,'” Jordan said. “No. I’m trying to win each and every game we play. My expectation is to be 21-0, 22-0, whatever it takes to get to a Super Bowl.”
