New Orleans Saints star wide receiver Chris Olave has been one of the best young pass catchers in all of football this season on the field. Unfortunately, some problems emerged on Monday night off the field that are certainly a bit concerning.
Olave has been great for the Saints in his second NFL season, leading the team with 39 receptions and 471 receiving yards on the year.
However, some off-the-field issues emerged late Monday night. According to Saints beat writer Nick Underhill, Olave was arrested for reckless operation of a motor vehicle, where he was reportedly traveling over 35 mph over the speed limit.

Underhill did provide some more context to the situation, detailing that Olave was clocked going 70 mph in a 35 mph zone. He will reportedly be released shortly from jail.

Olave’s brother, Josh Olave, also offered some insight into the situation on social media.
“Bro was on the way back to the crib from CVS,” tweeted Josh Olave. “Ain’t nun serious.”

It’s obviously never great to hear of a player being arrested, but it at least sounds like early reports are suggesting that there were no other people involved who could have potentially been in danger.
Regardless, if he was truly just returning from the store, he certainly needs to be more cautious moving forward to avoid this situation from ever happening again.
