New Orleans Saints star Chris Olave was arrested on Monday night for reckless operation of a motor vehicle. And once video of the arrest went viral on Tuesday, he received widespread criticism, which he is now pushing back against.

The arrest video showed Olave telling the Kenner (La.) Police Department officer that he was a member of the Saints, presumably hoping that he would let him off the hook.

Instead, the officer continued on with his procedure, arresting the star wide receiver in a video that ended up garnering a ton of criticism for Olave.

Olave, who was released shortly after the incident on Tuesday morning, spoke out about the hate he has received. He posted a number of tweets on his Twitter account, one of which has since been deleted.

“Damn, crazy world,” one tweet stated.

“They couldn’t wait to try to tear me down and bash me,” said Olave in a now deleted tweet.

It’s not exactly the apology or acknowledgement of wrongdoing that some fans were expecting. And many fans continued to blast him on social media for his response to everything.

The speeding is obviously dangerous, but millions of people are hit with speeding tickets or arrests every year. It’s the entitlement of Olave to state that he is an NFL player to the officer that has really irked many fans.

Hopefully Olave can use this moment as a lesson moving forward. But based on his response on social media, that may not be the case.
