Second-year quarterback Sam Howell has started every game for the Washington Commanders this season, but when the team takes on the San Francisco 49ers, he will not be the one leading the offense as he has been benched in favor of veteran quarterback Sam Howell. But it sounds like he’s trying to keep a positive attitude.
During a press conference this week, Sam Howell made it clear that while he isn’t necessarily happy that he got benched, he understands the decision and is just going to try to learn and grow from the experience.
“Obviously disappointing, it is what it is,” Howell said this week according to the Washington Commanders team website. “I think at the end of the day, I just gotta play better. I’m just gonna try to do whatever I can, continue to get better these last two weeks and try to learn as much as I can while watching Jacoby play, support him and try to be a good teammate.”
Howell certainly had some flashes of talent and potential throughout this season, so it will be interesting to see what the future holds for him whether it’s with the Commanders or elsewhere in the league.
