As the NFL trade deadline nears, there is some speculation that the New York Giants could look to trade star running back Saquon Barkley as a result of their 1-5 start and his expiring contract. But it doesn’t sound like that’s something Barkley wants.

During a recent interview session, Saquon Barkley made it clear that he wants to remain with the New York Giants and does not want to be included in any trade talks.

“Everyone knows how I feel,” Barkley said after Thursday’s practice according to the New York Post. “Everyone knows I don’t want to get traded.”

But Barkley also knows that the decision regarding whether or not he is traded isn’t really his to make.

“Obviously, I’ve been vocal and public about how I feel about this organization and where I want to be,” Barkley said. “Knowing the business and seeing that side of it, there’s a lot of things I can’t control. I don’t think anybody in their right mind would want to get traded anywhere. It’s not an easy thing to do: You’ve got to move. I have a family. I would love to be here.”

Regardless, it’s newsworthy that Barkley wants to stay with the Giants – especially after a tumultuous offseason that left Barkley considering holding out as he sought a contract extension. As a result, the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media.

It will certainly be interesting to see whether or not Barkley is traded ahead of the Oct. 31 deadline.
