The New York Jets are preparing for the New England Patriots this weekend. The Pats have run roughshod over the Jets since Bill Belichick spurned New York for New England. Belichick and the Patriots’ stranglehold over the NFL the last two decades is well-documented. Although the run is dwindling, Belichick and his team’s prowess shouldn’t be underestimated. It’s clear the opposition recognizes what’s in front of them. Jets second-year cornerback and superstar Sauce Gardner made his feelings clear on Wednesday.

Gardner met with the media, who asked him about the Patriots offense. Sauce said, “They don’t really have a complex offense. It’s pretty simple for the quarterback to get. The gap scheme, everything is like simple. But it’s like they excel at it, you know what I mean?

“What they try to do is get other people to mess up and make mistakes. They just do everything right,” the 2022 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year said.

Gardner had nothing but praise for the rival Patriots. But rest assured that it likely won’t be so cordial this weekend when the two longtime rivals meet again. New England has won the last 14 consecutive meetings over the Jets. So domination has been the name of the game lately. We’ll see if the Jets can finally snap their woes to the Patriots. If they do, chances are Sauce Gardner is a huge reason why.
