New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner, who has been ruled out of Sunday’s game with a concussion, is not arguing the decision.

The NFL’s concussion protocol is straight-forward and not subject to interpretation. You don’t pass, you don’t play.

Yet Gardner offered his own take on his condition.

“I feel perfectly fine. That’s the crazy part about it,” Gardner posted Saturday afternoon on X (formerly Twitter).

Gardner originally showed up on the injury report as questionable with an illness. No word on why his condition changed.

The All-Pro cornerback’s absence could not come at a worse time for the Jets, whose secondary has been decimated by injury. The Jets other starting cornerback, D.J. Reed, will also miss Sunday with a concussion, and his backup Brandin Echols (hamstring) is also out.

Of course, these situations never happen when a bad team with a marginal quarterback is up next on the schedule. The Jets host Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday.

The Jets have activated Craig James and Ke’Montae Hayes from the practice squad. But as fans on social media pointed out, things could get really ugly against Hurts, A.J. Brown & Co.
