Leading up to Sunday night’s game between the Detroit Lions and the Los Angeles Rams, Jared Goff made it very clear that he felt he had a chip on his shoulder playing against his former team that decided to trade him away. And ultimately, he won the game with a strong performance – and former head coach Sean McVay was happy for him, even if his Rams lost.
In the 24-23 win over the Rams on Sunday night, Jared Goff completed 22 of 27 passes for 277 yards and a touchdown. And after the game, McVay expressed that he was happy for his former quarterback.
“Jared was really efficient,” McVay said. “You can see the command he has. I think there’s a lot made of it, but I’m really happy for him. Obviously we wanted to come away with the win, but he’s done a great job. I think the grit, the resilience, and the way he’s done his thing here over the last three years, I’m happy for Jared, and I certainly am appreciative of the four years we had together.”
The Rams won’t regret trading Goff for Matthew Stafford head of the 2021 season as Stafford led them to a Super Bowl championship, but it sounds like Goff is thriving, as well.
