With the Thursday Night Football matchup this week featuring two contenders in the Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks, it felt reasonable to expect big-time players to make big-time plays.

Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf took that message to heart in the first quarter.

The fifth-year wideout hauled in two passes totaling 107 yards, already putting himself right outside his season-high of 112 yards.

The first of Metcalf’s two receptions resulted in a 74-yard touchdown.

Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith perfectly threaded the needle to Metcalf who was off to the races.

According to NFL PR’s Brian McCarthy, Metcalf was the fastest ball carrier this season, reaching 22.23 miles per hour, which topped Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill’s 22.01 mile per hour sprint in Miami’s Week 5 win over the New York Giants.

Metcalf’s other catch was another spectacular effort along the sideline when he hauled in a tough catch over November’s Defensive Player of the Month DaRon Bland.

After Metcalf’s touchdown, Al Michaels roasted Bland, saying the award “must not have included November 30th.”

Fans on social media had a lot to say about Metcalf’s big quarter.

CBS Sports’ Ross Tucker pointed out that Metcalf shouldn’t be able to be that big and that fast, saying “He’s almost 240lbs”

DraftKings’ Mike Golic Jr. echoed Tucker’s sentiments, calling it “deeply disturbing.”

Another fan was happy Metcalf was being recognized, saying, “People don’t talk enough about DK when all those ‘fastest player in the NFL’ discussions happen.”

Another fan said, “I legit would pay to see Metcalf and Ty Hill race.”
