The Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans made waves on Wednesday, making a trade that will send Pro Bowl receiver Stefon Diggs to Houston.

But before going to Houston, Diggs issued a farewell statement to his now former home city, Buffalo.

Diggs shared good memories of his time with the Bills in a statement on Instagram.

“I can’t begin to express the amount of love and respect I have for the city of Buffalo,” he said. “Four of the best years of my life, the city welcomed me with open arms. I’m forever grateful for you all and the @buffalobills organization! Something special was built over these years with some very special men, that will always have a place in my heart. Billsmafia, so many great memories created throughout the years. Those games were crazy because of you. Sadly good things come to an end until we meet again 14.”

It’s not lip service. Diggs emerged as one of the best receivers in the league during his first five NFL seasons, all with the Minnesota Vikings. In Buffalo, though, he took it to a new level, especially with consistency.

In four seasons with the Bills, Diggs caught 445 passes for 5,372 yards and 37 touchdowns. He had at least 103 receptions, 1,183 yards and eight touchdowns each season, made the Pro Bowl every year and was First-team All-Pro in 2022 and Second-team All-Pro in 2020. Buffalo also enjoyed great team success, winning at the AFC East in each of Diggs’ four seasons with the team. But after making the AFC Championship Game in 2020, the Bills were eliminated in the Divisional Round from 2021-2023.

Despite the postseason frustration, Buffalo trading Diggs breaks what had been a successful formula.
