What’s the appropriate name for a baby boy born on the same day that his father wins the Super Bowl? Los Angeles Rams receiver Van Jefferson and his wife have found a good one.

Speaking on The Adam Schefter Podcast, Jefferson revealed his son’s name, Champ. The name not only honors the day that his son was born but everything his wife, Samaria, went through on Super Bowl Sunday, as well as the days leading up to it.

It’s hard to argue with any of that.

There are some different routes that the Jeffersons could have gone down. But Champ Curtis Jefferson rolls off of the tongue a lot easier than Lombardi Curtis Jefferson.

Jefferson’s story was one of the most memorable to come out of Super Bowl LVI.

Minutes after the Rams defeated the Cincinnati Bengals, Jefferson was told that Samaria was in labor. After explaining to his two other young children what was going on, Jefferson headed off to the hospital where Samaria gave birth to Champ.

Jefferson made it to the hospital in time for Champ’s birth. With the timing of everything, Jefferson didn’t get a lot of time to celebrate the Super Bowl — at least not on the field with his teammates. But given the occasion, he had a much bigger celebration at the hospital. And the name of his new son will also serve as a forever celebration.
