Hamilton County, which is the county where the city of Cincinnati is located, has finally named a suspect in the Joe Mixon shooting case.

According to reports, a teenager was shot at 11-12 times near the home of Bengals running back Joe Mixon.

Hamilton County prosecutor Melissa Powers finally released the name of the primary suspect in this case.

She revealed the suspect as 34-year-old Lamonte Brewer, Shalonda Mixon’s boyfriend who has been hit with four criminal charges, including felony assault. Investigators say he shot at a 16-year-old who was playing with a Nerf gun near Mixon’s house in Ohio on March 6 at around 8:30 PM.

Shalonda Mixon is the sister of Joe Mixon. A surveillance video showed Brewer opening fire on a 16-year-old nearly shooting him in the head.

“It’s unbelievable that something like this could happen,” Powers said. “It’s hard to fathom how anyone could aim a gun at a child, let alone fire 10 to 11 rounds at him.”

“It’s a miracle he was not killed,” she said.

Another element of this story is that Mixon was receiving death threats via social media.

Mixon’s agent Peter Schaffer said that he is upset about the whole incident.

“When another individual discharged a firearm, Joe interceded to stop the person discharging a firearm. Joe hates that a young adult was injured during this incident.”

If convicted, Brewer can face up to 20 years in prison, meanwhile, Shalonda Mixon could face up to four years in prison for her part in this.

Powers did reiterate that Joe Mixon had nothing to do with this incident.
