Many expected the Houston Texans to trade star receiver Brandin Cooks at the NFL trade deadline on Tuesday, but the team surprisingly decided to hold onto him amidst many trade rumors surrounding him.
Cooks notably did not practice on Tuesday, likely expecting to be dealt. That didn’t happen, but it seems like he is still bothered with his position within the organization at the moment.
According to Texans reporter Aaron Wilson, Cooks missed practice again on Wednesday for personal reasons.
Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks didn't practice again Wednesday for personal reasons, per league sources, one day after trade deadline expired with no deal reached. He expressed displeasure on social media Tuesday after no trade due to his contract-Texans' trade demands

This comes after a cryptic post from Cooks on Twitter Tuesday that seemed to voice his frustrations with the Texans’ organization.
“Don’t take a man’s kindness for granted. Covered for the lies for too long those days are done. Crossed the line with playing with my career.”

It certainly does not look like this is going to have a good resolution between the two, and many believe that Cooks could end up being released by the Texans if he chooses not to return to the field.
Second straight day Cooks hasn't practiced due to personal reasons.
His tweet yesterday seemed more like him saying he's fed up with the Texans rather than your standard cryptic WR post. https://t.co/6Tfx2LbpiQ

Yesterday was the time to trade him since his base salary balloons from the minimum to $18 million next year.
He should've been dealt yesterday if the Texans wanted a decent return for him. The extension was seemingly structured for it. https://t.co/9r4nryZ69G

Doesn't necessarily mean he won't play this week, but I definitely wouldn't plan on using Cooks this week either way. https://t.co/KFBoWm0X3v

It was shocking to see the team hold onto Cooks considering how their season has gone thus far.
Sitting at 1-5-1 on the season and seemingly have very little hope to improve considering the obvious lack of talent on their roster at several key positions, it would’ve made sense to trade him for some sort of draft compensation.
Houston didn’t do that and now they have a disgruntled player on their hands that seems to have very little interest in ever taking the field as a Texan again.
