With the NFL trade deadline closing in on Oct. 31, the future of some big stars is still up in the air.

Derrick Henry is apparently not one of those players. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Saturday that the Tennessee Titans have told the All-Pro running back they don’t intend to trade him.

Then again, Schefter admitted what everyone who follows pro sports knows — when it comes to trades, nothing is guaranteed.

“This doesn’t mean he won’t be traded by Tuesday’s 4 p.m. ET deadline — the Titans simply told Henry they don’t intend to move him,” Schefter reported.

Schefter goes on to note that “League sources still believe there is a chance Henry could be traded, though there is not as much interest in him across the NFL because of his age, production, expiring contract and cost for the rest of this season.”

Henry is 29, late middle age in running back years, and he’s set to become a free agent after this season. While he’s not putting up the huge statistics of seasons past, he’s still averaged a respectable 4.3 yards per carry, and he’d probably be a more dangerous threat if he were to play in a more balanced offense.

Given Henry’s legacy with the Titans, many fans don’t want to see him go. Other fans are more realistic and realize it might be time to bid him farewell.
