There’s no debate that Tom Brady is one of the greatest, if not the single greatest quarterback in NFL history. He has seven Super Bowl wins, has been named the league MVP three different times, and had never missed the playoffs as a full-time starter – until this season.

As Tampa Bay Buccaneers reporter Joey Knight of the Tampa Bay Times points out, Tom Brady has just finished the regular season with a losing record for the time in his entire career as a starter after the Buccaneers fell to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday afternoon.

“Tom Brady will finish the regular season with a losing record (8-9) for the first time in his 22 seasons as an NFL starter,” Knight said in a tweet on Sunday afternoon.

It’s a pretty wild fact, considering how long Brady has been in the league, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it on Twitter.

“Bucs fall to 8-9 with Sunday’s loss. It’s Tom Brady’s 1st losing season as the primary starting QB in the NFL, college OR high school.

– 1998-99 Michigan
– 2001-19 Patriots
– 2020-21 Buccaneers

25 years, 25 non-losing seasons before Sunday,” Jason Starrett of The Athletic said on Twitter.

“Tom Brady hasn’t had a losing season as a starting quarterback. The only time Patriots had a losing record with him was his rookie year in 2000, and he barely played at all that year,” Greg Auman of Fox Sports said in a tweet.

“Tom Brady first losing season ever. He will be hosting a home playoff game next week,” Obnoxious Boston Fan said in a tweet.

It may be his first losing season in history, but Brady also led the Bucs to a division title, a playoff appearance, and a home playoff game all while setting an all-time NFL record in the process.
