When the Minnesota Vikings lost starting quarterback Kirk Cousins to a season-ending injury on Sunday afternoon, it did not take long for people to suggest that recently-retired Tom Brady could come out of retirement to play for the Minnesota Vikings this season. After all, the Vikings are a playoff contender with a strong receiving corps and Brady’s mother is from Minnesota. But Brady hasn’t addressed that speculation just yet.

As Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk points out, Tom Brady had a chance to address and potentially shut down any speculation during his weekly podcast – as he’s done with several other rumors of his potential return – but he chose not to do it.

“Brady has a weekly podcast, with new episodes landing every Monday. (It’s called Let’s Go!, and it’s on SiriusXM.) This week, Brady said nothing at all — one way or the other — about the possibility of emerging from retirement and playing for the Vikings,” Florio wrote for Pro Football Talk.

While this doesn’t necessarily mean anything, Florio pointed out on social media that it would have been very easy for Brady to shut down speculation by simply addressing it on the podcast – as he’s done numerous times with other rumors. But instead, he didn’t.

“Would have been very easy for Jim Gray to ask him about it and for him to say ‘no,'” Florio wrote.

It’s certainly an interesting update, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media.

It doesn’t necessarily seem likely that Brady will come out of retirement, but it’s certainly interesting that he chose not to address the speculation. We’ll have to see what happens.
