Tommy DeVito The Record

This week, the New York Giants decided to bench undrafted rookie quarterback Tommy DeVito after he had started the majority of the team’s games this season with starting quarterback Daniel Jones out for the season with an injury. But despite the benching, it sounds like DeVito has confidence about his future in the league.

During his media availability this week, Tommy DeVito made it clear that the biggest thing he learned throughout this season is that he belongs in the NFL, despite the most recent decision from the New York Giants.

“That I belong,” DeVito said according to Pro Football Talk. “In the NFL, specifically. I mean, just to go out and to prove that to myself. To the younger me, to the me that was training to be here to this point. That’s all it is.”

DeVito acknowledged that he doesn’t exactly know what the future holds, but he does sound confident that this will not be his last opportunity as a starter in the NFL.

With DeVito moving to the bench, the Giants will now start veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor in this week’s game against the Los Angeles Rams after he performed well in Monday’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
