During his second season in the NFL, Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence helped the team bounce back from a brutal season the previous year, not only helping lead the Jaguars to the playoffs but beating the Los Angeles Chargers in the Wild Card round. And it sounds like Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson is expecting continued growth from his young quarterback this season.

During an appearance on the Rich Eisen show this week, Doug Pederson praised his young quarterback, saying that he is the type of player that can “put the team on his back.”

“I think going into his year three, year two with us as a staff, I think the way he played the back half of the season is the way he needs to start this year,” Pederson said according to Pro Football Talk. “There was a lot of confidence with him at the end of the year. That’s the next phase. It’s putting all of that together. I feel like he’s the guy that, which he showed towards the end of the year, you can put the team on his back.”

It will certainly be interesting to see how Lawrence is able to grow as a player during his second season in the league.
