The Cincinnati Bengals are in good hands at the top of the depth chart at quarterback position for the foreseeable future as there’s no indication that star quarterback Joe Burrow will be going anywhere anytime soon. But the team did have a little bit of a shakeup at the backup quarterback spot which they addressed this week.

For the past three years, veteran quarterback Brandon Allen has been the backup quarterback for Joe Burrow, even filling in for him as the team’s starter when Burrow suffered a season-ending knee injury during his rookie season. But with Allen signing with the San Francisco 49ers this week, the team signed a new backup quarterback: Trevor Siemian.

“the #bengals have signed QB Trevor Siemian to a one year deal per source. Siemian visited Cincy before the draft, and also has a really good relationship with OC Brian Callahan from their time in Denver together,” Palmer said in a tweet on Wednesday afternoon.

It’s a pretty big move for the Bengals to bolster their quarterback depth chart, and the NFL world had plenty to say about the addition on Twitter.

Obviously, the Bengals will hope that Burrow stays healthy and Seimian never has to start, but it’s nice to know they have him if they need him.
