The Miami Dolphins defeated the New England Patriots by a score of 24-17 on Sunday night thanks to some stellar play from star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. The young quarterback has now won all of his first five starts against the Patriots and head coach Bill Belichick, and while he’s not taking all the credit for himself, he does acknowledge that the team seems to dominate the legendary coach.

“I think our team is 5-0 against Bill Belichick,” Tagovailoa said after the game, according to Boston.com. “It’s never a me thing. It’s never a me thing. And I don’t think we ever look at it as, ‘oh, we beat them once, we beat them twice, we beat them five times in a row.’ Every time we face coach Belichick’s team, it’s always a challenge. And we know we’re going to get their best.”

It’s worth noting that this isn’t necessarily true – the Dolphins actually lost both times they played the Patriots without Tagovailoa since drafting the quarterback. So the team is actually 5-2 since drafting him, but Tagovailoa himself is 5-0 – perhaps highlighting his importance.

Tagovailoa and the Dolphins will have a chance to improve to 6-0 against Belichick in the Patriots later this season. It will be interesting to see if the team can continue to be an Achilles heel for one of the most legendary coaches to ever coach in the NFL.
