Tyreek Hill and Tua Tagovailoa Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Miami Dolphins superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill is in the midst of a potentially record-breaking season as he is on pace to become the first wide receiver in NFL history to surpass 2,000 yards in a single season. Naturally, that would put him in the thick of the NFL MVP conversation, as well. But he wants his quarterback to win it, instead.

During a press conference this week, Tyreek Hill told reporters that the MVP Award is “a quarterback award” and that he’d be “happier” if Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa won the award instead of him.

“It’s a quarterback award,” Hill told reporters according to Pro Football Talk. “We all know that. And if Tua won it, I’d be happy. I’d be happier if Tua won it. I feel like I’ve gotten everything I want. I get a chance to play the game that I love. God has blessed me with that. But obviously, winning the award would be icing on the cake. But God has blessed me with just everything I’ve got, with just being here in Miami. My family is enjoying life. I’m enjoying life. I’m just enjoying what every day has to offer. I couldn’t ask for more.”

If Hill does win the award, he would be the first wide receiver ever to win the award.
