It’s always been clear that Urban Meyer had a pretty disastrous stint as the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, but it seems to only get worse and worse in hindsight. And one recent stat about Trevor Lawrence has some people roasting Meyer for his failures once again.

On Saturday morning, Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk wrote an article detailing just how much Trevor Lawrence improved from his rookie season to his second season with the team.

“Statistically, there’s a case to be made that Lawrence’s improvement was unlike any other player’s in NFL history,” Smith wrote for Pro Football Talk.

“Via NFL Research, Lawrence’s improvement from a passer rating of 71.9 in 2021 to 95.2 in 2022 is the largest increase in NFL history for any quarterback who threw at least 400 passes in each of his first two seasons.”

But as everyone knows, the biggest difference between Lawrence’s first season with the team and his second season was the head coach as Doug Pederson replaced Urban Meyer. As a result, the NFL world was quick to roast Meyer for his failure to develop and utilize Lawrence during his time leading the team.

It’s not clear just how much the coaching change made a difference for Lawrence, but the stats don’t lie.
