The Washington Commanders have a QB dilemma to solve soon, but one former Commander doesn’t believe this will be a very tough decision.

ESPN NFL and college football analyst Robert Griffin III has his take on the situation. RG3 believes that between the options of Taylor Heinicke and Carson Wentz, the Commanders should go with the latter. During his weekly appearance on The Sports Junkies podcast, Griffin said there was “no question” that it should be Wentz.

Griffin offered an “honest” take, saying he believed that Heinicke had a chance to take the job but “dropped the ball:”

“You look at Taylor Heinicke and he’s had those opportunities only, in my opinion, because the defense has played so well to keep them in games when he’s been the starter,” said Griffin, per The Team 980. “If the defense is going to play like that, who would you rather have at the end? Would you rather have Carson or would you rather have Heinicke? Probably Heinicke. But with the way he has played up and down over the past few games, there’s no question that when Carson comes back he should be the guy.”

The team is already going through a significant amount of behind-the-scenes drama involving the potential sale of the team. QB dilemmas aren’t something anybody wants to deal with, but this is a situation that will have to be tackled once Wentz comes back. We’ll see if the Commanders listen to the former sensation for the team or if Heinicke remains the man under center even after Wentz heals up.
