Earlier this year, Miami Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard faced quite an eyebrow-raising accusation when an unknown, anonymous accuser claimed that lied and negligently gave her genital herpes. But it appears that she has dropped the claims.

According to Xavien Howard’s lawyer, the lawsuit against his client was “fabricated,” and the “entire basis of her lawsuit was a literal impossibility” for one very simple reason: Howard never had genital herpes in the first place.

“The anonymous accuser who sued my client for transmitting genital herpes has permanently dropped what we proved was a fabricated lawsuit. Xavien Howard never had genital herpes in the first place; the entire basis of her lawsuit was a literal impossibility,” Howard’s attorney Brad Sohn said in a tweet.

Sohn claims that the accuser made the accusations in an attempt to extort money from Howard and that the former All-Pro cornerback is now considering legal action agains the accuser.

“His accuser nevertheless lobbed out defamatory, absurd, and knowingly-false claims, as one of several (unsuccessful) attempts to extort money from him,” Sohn said. “Xavien is considering various legal action against this fabricator and hopes that those who ratified her made-up claims by reporting on them will also report Xavien’s exoneration.”
