The Minnesota Vikings appear set at the quarterback position with veteran Kirk Cousins expected to be the team’s starter for the sixth straight season. However, they appear to be looking for depth at the position, even though they have Nick Mullens and 2023 fifth-round pick Jaren Hall behind Cousins on the depth chart.
After working out Jordan Ta’amu earlier this summer, it appears that the Vikings have agreed to terms with the XFL standout. The official XFL account on X, the platform previously known as Twitter, announced the news, though the Vikings have yet to confirm.

Ta’amu is no stranger to trying to get on NFL rosters. He has had multiple brief stints after going undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft. He spent time with the Texans in 2019, the Chiefs and Lions in 2020 and the Chiefs, Lions, Commanders and Panthers in 2021. Now, he’ll get another shot, this time with Minnesota.
His return to the NFL comes after he didn’t have any suitors in the 2022-23 season. That led to him opting to play in the XFL instead, where he led the D.C. Defenders to a 9-1 regular season record, throwing for 1,894 yards with 14 touchdowns and three interceptions, which earned him the honor of being named the XFL’s offensive player of the year.
Ta’amu is the 56th XFL 2023 player to sign with an NFL team, according to NFL reporter Mike Mitchell. It remains to be seen if he can make the team once the Vikings break camp.
