New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson has gone through a lot of adversity throughout his NFL career since he was selected with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. And he thinks that past adversity only helps him now.

Throughout his first few years in the league, Zach Wilson has dealt with poor performances, benchings, injuries, and other issues that have held him back from potentially hitting his potential. But he thinks all the adversity he has gone through in his career has helped him as he navigates this season.

“Absolutely, I absolutely think it does,” Wilson said according to Pro Football Talk. “It’s a great point, because it’s been tough, it’s been challenging, and we just have to keep going. Very optimistic, I am, about what we have as an offense, and I know every week we’re right there, we’re close, and eventually we have to turn the page, but I still feel that way, and I’m excited for this next week, the next challenge, and yeah, like you said, just fighting through it and learning.”

Wilson was never expected to be the starter for the Jets this season, but he was thrust into the role after future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered an Achilles injury during the team’s first game of the season. But until Rodgers is healthy enough to return, it looks like he’ll be leading the team.
