It’s Week 1, but the Catch of the Year race might have ended before it could even begin. Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Zay Jones just made an absolutely incredible catch for a touchdown to put his team up on the Indianapolis Colts.

The Jags and Colts opened against each other in Week 1 of the 2023 season. The AFC South rivals were locked in a 7-7 tie late in the second quarter. But Trevor Lawrence helped lead Jacksonville into premier position. Lawrence then let it fly to Jones, who streaked up the right sideline to the end zone.

The ball found Jones, who laid out for an amazing grab. Jones’ concentration was on full display. He dropped his knee in bounds, pulled the catch in, secured it to the ground, and came away with six points. He stretched his hands all the way out for it in what’s sure to be one of the best plays of the year.

There’s not much to exaggerate around here. Anyone looking to make a better catch than this will have to go all out. This was an incredible play by the talented Jones. The Jaguars figure to be contenders in the AFC South again, and they are showing exactly why that is.

The NFL world had plenty to say about the awesome catch.

Zay Jones certainly excited everybody before halftime, and there may be more to come.
