Sha’Carri Richardson has done it.

The American sprinter won the 100-meter world title Monday in Hungary, re-establishing herself as a frontrunner heading into the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The 23-year-old ran a personal-best 10.65 seconds at the 2023 World Athletics Championships, at the National Athletics Centre, in Budapest.

Richardson made headlines on Sunday when she celebrated before finishing her qualifying heat against 100m competitors. That kind of bravado is equaled by the fact that she followed through and won the whole thing a day later.

Richardson has been at the center of some controversy in recent years. She had to miss the Olympics two years ago after failing a drug test. She’s also been pretty outspoken about her love of the sport and how it’s broadcast not to mention the way that reporters cover her and other track athletes. It now seems like she’s back to dominating on the track and that’s a scary sign for her competitors.

While she was already considered a favorite to represent the United States of America in the 2024 Olympics spot, this seals the deal.

The sports world loved watching Richardson win the 1oo meters and celebrate afterward.

Expect to see and hear a lot more about Richardson at the 2024 Olympic Games get closer.
