Joe Biden Arizona Republic

United States President Joe Biden delivered his State of the Union address on Thursday night, and he made a horrible mistake as he addressed the recent murder of 22-year-old Georgia college student Laken Riley.

Laken Riley was murdered last month, and her death has recently become a political talking point after it was determined that the suspected killer entered the country illegally in 2022. So when Joe Biden was discussing border security during his speech, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia demanded that the president say the name of Laken Riley as part of his address.

He tried, but he got the name wrong. Instead of saying Laken Riley, Biden accidentally said a name that is very familiar to football fans like himself – Lincoln Riley, the head coach of the USC Trojans football team.

It’s obviously a horrible mix-up to mistakenly reference a college football coach instead of a 22-year-old girl who was recently murdered, and the mishap understandably led to a lot of reactions on social media.

It’s clear who Biden was talking about, but it’s not a good look for him to say the name wrong when he was specifically called upon to say her name in the address.
