Global pop superstar Taylor Swift has exploded in popularity and visibility among NFL fans over the past several months after she began dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. And this week, that popularity seemed to cause some problems for her as men and football fans began circulating sexually explicit AI-generated images of the pop star on social media, many of which were related to her Chiefs fandom and her relationship with Kelce. But it sounds like the Joe Biden and the White House are planning to take action.
During a press conference this week, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre made it clear that United States President Joe Biden is committed to supporting legislation that would address the fake and abusive images and also wants social media platforms to do a better job of policing these things themselves.
“It is alarming,” Jean-Pierre told reporters according to Bloomberg. “So while social media companies make their own independent decisions about content management, we believe they have an important role to play in enforcing their own rules to prevent the spread of misinformation and non-consensual intimate imagery.”
Obviously, this is a strong stance for Biden and his administration to take on this issue, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media as a result.
Oh…ok…so high profile celebs CAN encourage the White House to action? Cause I could have sworn y'all told me- https://t.co/1Rl4X3uuUN

We’ll have to see what the White House chooses to do to combat this growing issue and how it is able to enforce the regulations.
