Tennis great Andre Agassi, who has been married to women’s tennis great Steffi Graf for the past 22 years, was once married to actress/model Brooke Shields for two years back in the late 90s.
In her new documentary, Pretty Baby, Shields talks about her life including her marriage to Agassi, she shared an unflattering portrait of the tennis superstar that is making the rounds on social media.
Apparently, when the pair were dating, Agassi become upset with Shields when she was making a guest appearance on the popular 90’s hit show, Friends.
“In the scene, I’m supposed to lick Joey’s fingers, because they’re the hands of a genius, and I want to devour them, and I’m a nut,” she said via The New Yorker. “He was cute — he was, like, ‘I’ve washed my hands and they’re all clean.’ I was, like, ‘I had a mint!'”
Agassi, who was in the audience at the time, wasn’t amused by the scene and stormed out.
“Andre was in the audience supporting me, and he stormed out,” said Shields. “He said, ‘Everybody’s making fun of me. You made a fool of me by that behavior.’ I’m, like, ‘It’s comedy! What is the matter with you?'”
Agassi later admitted himself that he was on crystal meth at the time, which explained his erratic behavior, which Shields called “petulant behavior”.
He was so upset that he even destroyed some of his tennis trophies. Considering Agassi’s reputation back then as a wild man, it shouldn’t be too much of a shock that he acted the way he did.
