In recent weeks, there has been much speculation on a potential cage fight between billionaire social media moguls Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. There is still no official date scheduled for the fight, but former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen offered a shocking update on when it could occur.

Sonnen appeared on The MMA Hour hosted by MMA analyst Ariel Helwani, where Sonnen detailed that he has spoken to Zuckerburg, who, according to Sonner, has agreed to fight Musk at UFC 300.

“(Mark) Zuckerburg contacts me because he saw your tweet that I was coming on,” Sonnen told Helwani. “Zuckerburg has told me that he has agreed to fight Elon Musk at UFC 300. That’s what he said; I delivered the message.”

We have not seen Musk’s response to this report or anything from the UFC regarding an official update on this potential fight.

Regardless, many took notice of this message from Sonnen and hoped that there was some validity to Sonnen’s statement.

Others believe it could take away from the event’s credibility to have two untrained people like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerburg step into the octagon on the same fight card as trained UFC fighters.

Regardless, it seems UFC president Dana White is serious about holding the fight within his promotion, whether or not it takes place at UFC 300.

He has received criticism for this, with some calling it a “gimmick fight.” However, he has vehemently disagreed with this sentiment, saying that it is instead a “crossover fight that everyone will watch.”
