Andrew Lincoln

Whether you continue to follow the show with a strong passion or have grown a little tired of the show, there is no debating that Andrew Lincoln has done a fantastic job portraying Rick Grimes in AMC’s The Walking Dead. Sunday night’s season premiere put Lincoln at the center of a whirlwind of torture and emotions, and the fans of the show are clamoring for him to be recognized for his work as the central figure of the show.

What better way to do that than with a good old online petition?

A fan in Ireland started the online petition, which you can check out and sign here, and simply states Lincoln “is an amazing actor and the emotion he shows when playing the character is just brilliant.”

You’ll get no argument from me. I think Lincoln does a terrific job in the role of the cop awakening form a coma to a zombie walker apocalypse. Over the seasons, he has been faced with acting through a number of losses to family and friends, turn against his allies and lead a group of survivors through every test imaginable. And anyone who watched the season premier knows, there is still so much more to come.

The petition is aiming to receive 10,000 digital signatures and is quickly approaching that goal (just a shade below 9,000 as I write this now). Once the petition hits the 10,000 mark, it will be delivered to the Emmy board.

The Walking Dead has collected a good number of Emmy wins and nominations for a handful of categories, most notably for make-up and visual effects. The acting, however, has not been given the same praise at the Emmy level. Maybe that could change with Lincoln.
