NASCAR fans who have missed watching Chase Elliott fans race have gotten their wish for his return to the track.

After missing six races due to a broken tibia, Elliott announced on Twitter Wednesday that he will be back for this weekend’s NASCAR Cup race at Martinsville.

Hendrick Motorsports added in their own statement that NASCAR has medically cleared Elliott, following two days in Chevrolet’s simulator.

“We’re looking forward to having Chase back in his race car to pick up where he left off,” team owner Rick Hendrick stated in a release by the team. “Since the injury, he’s worked extremely hard and focused all his time and energy on returning to the No. 9 team. Throughout the last six weeks, he’s stayed fully engaged with everything we’re doing, and we know he’s chomping at the bit to get on the racetrack and compete for wins.”

In perhaps even better news, Hendrick also announced that Elliott received a medical waiver to be eligible for the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs.

The NASCAR world was thrilled about the news that Elliott would be back behind the wheel of the No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet this weekend.
