NASCAR star Jimmie Johnson is finally speaking about the tragic details of a tragic situation that happened in his family earlier this season.

Johnson’s mother-in-law, killed her husband, grandson, and then herself in a horrifying situation that that left the NASCAR star and his family reeling.

This is the first time since that incident that Johnson has spoken out on what took place that faithful night.

“Our family is devastated by the profound loss of Lynn, Jack, and Dalton Janway,” Johnson wrote Friday in an Instagram post. “We have been humbled by the outpouring of love and support during this unthinkably sad time and remain grateful for all of your compassion.”

At the time of this tragedy, Johnson pulled out of the race in Chicago and remained silent about the incident until now.

NASCAR released a statement right after the tragic loss happened.

“We are saddened by the tragic deaths of members of Chandra Johnson’s family,” it said, referring to Jimmie Johnson’s wife. “The entire NASCAR family extends its deepest support and condolences during this difficult time to Chandra, Jimmie, and the entire Johnson & Janway families.”

It is also being reported that Johnson’s mother-in-law was dealing with depression after the loss of her son nine years ago.
